I'm a Baby Boomer, myself and as a Baby Boomer I’ve noticed that our metabolism is not the same fast-burning machine it was in our younger years. Those days when gobbling pizza, burgers and fries did nothing to our waistlines, blood sugar or cholesterol levels. And heart disease was just a phrase, not something we worried about.

Also, I have friends and relatives who are severely overweight or have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart problems and diabetes. Some have even had legs amputated due to circulation problems caused by diabetes.

However, having lost friends and relatives, far too early in life, and knowing that losing weight, better nutrition, taking vitamins and supplements and exercising would've probably extended their lives, made me put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard in this case) and create this website.

I'm not a doctor, nor a nutritionist. However, I have studied health, nutrition and weight loss and lost 25 pounds myself. That may not sound like much weight, but I started at 179 pounds and was borderline, pre-diabetic.

I'll tell you up front that the advice and articles you'll find on these pages WILL NOT be the stock, conventional advice that's pumped out by most weight loss “experts”, nutritionists or food companies.

Besides, if their advice truly worked for everyone, you wouldn't be overweight and unhealthy, and America wouldn't have the problems with obesity that it has.

Why Do You Want To Lose Weight

There are plenty of good reasons people want to loss weight:

  • Fit better into their clothes
  • Look better - greater self-esteem
  • Look sexier - attract a good-looking man or woman
  • Be healthier
  • Live longer
  • Enjoy a better quality life
  • Participate in activities without becoming easily winded

… and the list goes on. You may have your own reasons. But whatever the reason, if losing weight (and keeping it off) were easy, then so many people wouldn't be overweight, unhealthy and unhappy.

Why Do You Need A Weight Loss Guide

Since we know that carry those extra pounds can lead to serious health issues (diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and stroke to name a few), why are we overweight? Plain and simple, losing weight and keeping it off is not only difficult, but confusing, too.

Which diet should you try? And how much will it cost? Do diet pills work, and if they do, which ones work? Are they safe? Are you going to constantly be hungry? Do you have to eat rice cakes and rabbit food all the time? Can I have any chocolate?

Just the first question - which diet should I try - is enough to overload almost any brain. There’s Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, South Beach Diet, Nutrisystem, the Grapefruit Diet, Atkins Diet, low fat diets, low carb diets, vegan diet, low sodium diet, and a whole lot more.

And what about Detoxing, vitamins and minerals, Slim-Fast, Alli, Hoodia, Fullbar and Lunar bars?

And we haven’t even mentioned exercise, walking, weight resistance training, cardio workouts, lifting weights, exercise bands, joining a gym or not, how much water to drink, energy drinks. Does hypnosis really work? What about acupuncture?

As you can tell, there are many questions and many variables to consider when someone wants to lose weight. But if you truly want to lose weight, and become healthier, you've come to the right place. However, as always, upon starting an exercise routine or changes in diet, it's best to consult your health professional first.

That’s where this weight loss guide comes in handy. I’ll show you what works and what doesn’t work. I’ve compiled information on diets (which ones work and which ones just take your money).

I'll put up information on diet pills, diet shakes, exercise and how to lose body fat (why it’s important and why you’ll never really be satisfied with yourself until you do). I'll even post up some easy to make, quick meals that are not only healthy but tasty, too.
